About Brittany and Beagle News

Annie

Annie

In the winter of 2000, a cute little beagle showed up at our front door and never left.  She was the first dog member of our married family.  In the beginning, Annie slept in the garage.  After some frightening storms, she worked her way into our bed.  She loved to stand on Charlie’s chest and urge him to do the beagle bay with her.  Annie brought us much joy and happiness over the years.  She was our inspiration for starting beaglenews.com.

Rocky

Rocky

In April of 2004, Annie gained a brother.  Rocky was a brittany spaniel we adopted through American Brittany Rescue.  We sought out a brittany spaniel after meeting our friends’ brittanys and seeing what wonderful dogs they are. Charlie had an interest in bird hunting and Rocky turned out to be quite the hunter.  Rocky and Annie were the best of buddies!  In the wintertime, Rocky’s favorite spot was in your lap on the recliner.   Beaglenews.com morphed into Beagle and Brittany News.

Claire

Claire

In June of 2008, Bobbi started getting the itch to add a new fur face to the family.  After much searching, she found cute little Claire, a brittany spaniel, at the Heard County Animal Shelter.  When we arrived at the shelter, the National Brittany Rescue had called and was making arrangements to take her in.  Through some phone interaction, we became honorary members of the organization and took Claire home that day.  She was weakened due to being covered with hundreds of ticks.  After some TLC, Claire perked up and became Rocky and Annie’s sister.  All three dogs went on some amazing camping adventures with Charlie and Bobbi.  Claire-Bear, as we affectionately referred to her, enjoyed cuddling like a bear in the house.  In the great outdoors, she was a natural born hunter and enjoyed bird hunting with Charles.

Mattie

Mattie

After a difficult year of doggy goodbyes (for now) and a few months of living in a VERY quiet house, we found Mattie!  She was being offered for adoption through the National Brittany Rescue.  Mattie was being fostered in a wonderful home in the state of New York.  Through a network of 17 different volunteer drivers, Mattie was brought to us over a weekend in May 2015.  She is a lovable snuggle bug in the house and a huntress when in the great outdoors.  She loves to run and play with her stuffed toys and her brother, Trooper.

Trooper

Trooper

We adopted Trooper from a local family in June 2015, one month after Mattie joined our family.  We thought Mattie was a fast runner; however, Trooper has her beat in this area.  Trooper is what we affectionately refer to as a ball dog.  He lives to have someone, anyone,  throw the ball for him.  Give him the choice between a steak or a ball, the ball will win each time!  Whenever we begin to pack the camper, Mattie and Trooper get visibly excited, knowing a new adventure awaits them!
